WATER + LIFE MUSEUMS, METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

LEED NC | Platinum

Zinner Consultants managed the green building strategy and certification of the world’s first LEED Platinum museums, the Metropolitan Water District’s Water + Life Museums. Located in Hemet (California), the project consists of two separate museum facilities in one master planned project: the Center for Water Education and the Western Center for Archaeology and Paleontology. Key strategies included an innovative energy efficient design – which earned a large Southern California Edison Savings By Design energy efficiency incentive – combined with a large photovoltaic solar electric system; the recycling of 95% of all construction waste; reclaimed water for landscape irrigation; daylight; and views.
